It is important to know that our coffee roasts here at The Roasted Bean would not be possible without the key ingredient: coffee beans! As you can see, we use these magnificent beans and grind them into coffee powder for our specialized, premium products. Of course, we will also strive to include them among the coffee-making essentials ordered online. You can't start your day out without these beautifully brown beans! In today's blog, we will be discussing the topic of coffee beans, where they are found, how they are used, and why they have become an inspirational element for our company. Moreover, we will also discuss different types of coffee beans and which coffee roast blends they can be used in our products. Let's take a dive into the most important ingredient of them all!
Coffee beans have been around since they were most likely first discovered in Ethiopia. However, cultivation of these beans did not begin until the 15th century, when a goat herder named Kaldi discovered them as berries. This gave his goats energy when they ate them, prompting him to do the same and experience the same energetic properties. Very much later, the coffee beans or berries were frequently used by multiple individuals, not just by the animals that ate them. As centuries passed, people began using beans by grinding them into coffee powder, then mixing them with hot, steamy water to make the iconic, energetic drink we all use today. Apart from the history of how the coffee bean was discovered and used, there are different types of coffee beans found worldwide. There are approximately 29 types of coffee beans. The most common coffee bean is the Arabica bean. It is considered the most popular type of bean due to its sweetness, size, and high price. However, it takes longer for them to grow, like beans, which need more water, higher altitudes, and shade. The next coffee bean is the Robusta bean. This African-based bean is less sweet with a more bitter taste. However, its caffeine content is doubled because it is used for espresso and instant coffee. The following coffee bean is the Bourbon bean. The French-based coffee bean has a very sweet, caramel-like taste, making it another great choice for coffee roasts and other coffee-based products. Last but not least, we have the Caturra coffee bean. This South American bean is well-suited for many coffee roasters, as the Caturra plant is the easiest to harvest from.
There is great importance attached to coffee beans today. First, each has a special property and a unique taste and smell. Next, there is a wide variety of coffee beans to choose from for our products and roasts. At the Roasted Bean, we believe this wide selection of beans is a necessary ingredient we use daily to serve our enthusiastic online customers. However, the concept of a coffee bean isn't just about how it smells, tastes, or energizes someone. It is actually the founding inspiration for our company, particularly its name. We went with the Roasted Bean because of the combination of different coffee beans used for our following coffee roasters, as well as to give it a catchy, familiar name for shoppers to recognize as they search online. If it weren't for the existence of the coffee bean, then we wouldn't be selling these spectacular products or writing these blogs for all to see!
