The Roasted Bean is known for selling its premium coffee products to its online shoppers daily. However, our customers don't just buy it for its rich, creamy flavor and aroma. In most cases, they need coffee to help them wake up day after day. It's really the caffeine that sparks up an individual and gets them surely motivated to make it through their daily routine, as most people do. Even some of us here at the Roasted Bean need coffee ourselves to stay energized and focused while we work hard to cater to our customers. As we dive deeper into the topic of caffeine, it is more appropriate to say that we should ask ourselves this. What is caffeine, really? What are the qualities, pros, and cons that it provides to others? Are there any benefits or risks we should be aware of? In today's blog, we will discuss caffeine and its role in every coffee roast blend we package and ship daily.

Caffeine is the most important natural stimulant, found most commonly in coffee beans, which are heavily used to make the coffee we make here at the Roasted Bean. It is stated that over 90 percent of Americans regularly consume caffeine daily, "with an average consumption of more than 135 milligrams of caffeine per day" (Morales-Brown, 2025). The main purpose of caffeine is to increase mental alertness in people after they wake up, but only occasionally. However, there are both benefits and side effects associated with caffeine once it is consumed. First, let's go over the benefits. Most benefits that come from the caffeine stimulant are weight loss, alertness, brain function enhancements, memory improvement, and the reduction of certain diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. The most important benefit of caffeine may be alertness. It is supposed to keep the person fully awake or alert all day after drinking a cup of caffeinated coffee. However, there are risks when caffeine is consumed alongside its benefits. Several risks to drinking caffeinated coffee include worsened depression, an increase in blood sugar, negative pregnancy effects, headaches, and insomnia. Insomnia is the most important risk to take lightly, as it can reduce sleep time by 45 minutes. Other than insomnia, a few other adverse effects from caffeine are jittering, uneven heartbeat, dizziness, anxiety, and dependency. It almost sounds impossible to believe, but this has happened with many individuals after overconsuming certain milligrams (mg) of caffeine than expected.

As we sell our coffee products from the Roasted Bean, we also want to raise awareness of both the benefits and side effects of caffeine on the mind and body. Even if you need caffeine daily, it's important to limit intake. We may release caffeine-free products to help reduce risks in the later future, though they won't match a cup of premium joe. In addition to employee-driven product decisions, we may create a forum for customers to share experiences with our coffee. This will connect to the topic of caffeine's effects when consumed through coffee. Stay tuned for more updates involving our website at The Roasted Bean.
